Diving into the "Sea of Change"

Updated: Nov 10, 2019

Coastal Climate Change a group of words which, while possessing scientific importance, are fundamental components of the future of the living.

Climate Change has become a word so heavy that it has started to press down on our shoulders as if reminding us of how little time we have left to act and mean it.

On the other hand, coasts of our world, home for highly diverse ecosystems and integral parts of our economic structures, are referred to as areas of high importance as they benefit both society and natural ecosystems.

Through this blog, we will be exploring the sensitivity of coasts of the world to sea level rise as well as structural climatic changes to regional weather systems. Atmospheric composition alterations will be analysed in relation to the oceanic structures and the relations between the deteriorating coastal resources and climate change will be investigated. How ecosystems and societies are and will be affected by these modifications will be examined and management, as well as adaptation plans, will be reviewed.

In short, the extent of interaction of societal components with the natural elements will be surfaced through the assessment of the thin line, between humans and nature.

I believe that this Ad of Inter-American Development Bank summarizes the complexity of the Coastal Climate Change impeccably while giving a taste of what we will be focusing on this blog.

As an islander who believes in the social, economic and natural significance of coasts this blog has been inspired by the years spent by the coast.

Hope you enjoy and feel free to share comments, insights and ideas x

Ps. The scientific term definitions will be made available with each post through this link.
